LoRa energy meter Impulse

Detects pulses from an energy meter Suitable for meter disks and LED pulses Enormous radio range – no comparison with WiFi Low maintenance due to long battery life Plug & play integration with the LineMetrics platform

Description

The LoRa energy meter Impuls enables the remote reading of existing energy meters. The pulses can be read in two different ways: Via a rotating counter disk and via LED pulses. This makes it possible to retrofit all current models. The pulses are recorded at 15-minute intervals and transmitted in aggregated form every two hours (equivalent to 8 data points) – in the form of a total meter reading, which can compensate for short-term connection failures. Converting pulses into actual units is easy in the Linemetrics Cloud.

The sensor also has a long radio range inside buildings and a battery life of around 3 years. Thanks to a special transmission protocol, maximum availability of the measured values (>99%) can be achieved even at long ranges and in challenging environments. This makes it ideal for use in cellars or measuring points distributed around the company premises.

Technical data

    • Pulse input: Counting disk (max. 5 revolutions/second) or LED (max. 10 LED pulses/second)
    • Transmission interval: 8 data points are sent every 2 hours (data resolution: 15 minutes)
    • Data availability: >99% even at long radio distance
    • LoRa radio range: max. 8km outdoor / some 100m indoors
    • Power supply: 2x 3.6 V AA lithium batteries, runtime depends on connection quality Sensor <-> LoRa Gateway (with average connection approx. 3 years)
    • Temperature operating range: -15°C to +45°C
    • Size & weight: Sensor unit: 95 x 75 x 30 mm, 130 g incl. Battery; optical read head: 24 x 40 x 19 mm, 19 g
    • Scope of delivery: Sensor, instructions, QR sticker, mounting material
    • Data sheet (English, manufacturer)

Measuring points

Data acquisition

  • The number of pulses (LED or counter disk) is transmitted every 2 hours in the form of 15-minute values.
  • Suitable for recording energy or gas consumption installed meter with LED pulse output or counter disk

Visualization

Pulse input (consumption in pulses):

Energy consumption of an office building within one week based on the number of pulses from an energy meter with LED pulse output.

Calculated input (consumption in kWh):

The value of a pulse in this case is 0.0067 kWh. This allows the raw data (pulses) in the LineMetrics Cloud to be automatically converted into actual consumption.

Battery-operated with with around 3 years runtime

LoRa radio is very energy efficient. Depending on the quality of the wireless connection, the batteries will last for many years.

Plug and Play

Plug & Play integration into the overall system

It’s easy to obtain your first measurement data in just a few minutes thanks to the modular system – from the sensor to the cloud.

Your benefits with the LineMetrics platform

All-in-one: A complete system for room monitoring

1. Capture impulses

The battery-operated wireless sensor can be installed flexibly. It reliably records the values and transmits them via LoRa.

2. transmit measurement data

The LoRa wireless gateway creates a wireless network for up to 1,000 sensors. The collected measurement data is transmitted to the cloud via mobile radio.

3. evaluate and alert

All sensors are managed and all measurement data stored in the cloud. Analyses, alerts and data integration via API are easily possible.

What is behind it? Find out what LineMetrics can do to help you easily obtain the measurement data you need.

Developing and operating an IoT-based monitoring solution is more complex than many people think. Here is just a small excerpt of what LineMetrics can do for you in the background so that you can easily and reliably obtain the measurement data you need:

  • Selection of international suppliers, supply chain management and price negotiations
  • Selection and testing of individual hardware devices, hardware quality management
  • Device and firmware management
  • Optimizations in terms of radio range and battery life
  • Database management
  • Connectivity management (SIM cards)
  • Security and encryption, including updates
  • Creation of instructions and support during rollout
  • 24/7 monitoring of the entire solution, support in the event of problems

Cloud platform: Analyze and process measured values

The LineMetrics Cloud allows you to create individual dashboards on which you can keep an eye on the data that is most important to you. Measured values can be displayed, combined and colored in the form of bars, curves, dial gauges, etc. This screenshot shows past and current measured values of the sensor:

Warning messages can be created for individual ranges/limit values and provided with a trigger delay. This means that no warning is sent if critical values are only briefly exceeded. A second condition for triggering a warning can also be configured.

Alerts can be sent by e-mail (see screenshot) or SMS. The recipient, subject and message can be easily configured individually.

Plug & play: obtain measurement data quickly and easily (< 3 minutes!)

The LineMetrics complete solution enables the solution to be commissioned via plug & play – without technicians, IT department, cable laying and network access. We will send you all the hardware with all accessories and simple commissioning instructions. The first measurement data can be analyzed in the LineMetrics Cloud within a few minutes. For questions, problems and tips, we have set up a comprehensive service center for you and can of course also be contacted personally at any time.
